Reading the stars
Sun, Moon, Rising: where do we begin?
A first guide to three names you will meet in your birth chart.
Sun · Self-expression
Your Sun sign is the zodiac section occupied by the Sun at birth. Aporr reads it as a clue to how you want to express yourself and live.
Moon · Feelings and comfort
Your Moon sign is the zodiac section occupied by the Moon at birth. The Sun and Moon move separately, so their signs can differ. In a reading, the Moon represents emotional responses and comfort.
Rising sign · ASC
The zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth. Astrology reads it as your first response and approach to the world. It needs an accurate birth time.
When your birth time is unknown
Without an accurate birth time, Aporr does not display the rising sign or houses. Positions such as the Moon may also be uncertain. Unknown values should not be treated as definite.
